Privacy Policy for Mazeball VR

1. Introduction

Welcome to Mazeball VR! We care about your privacy and want to be transparent about how your data is collected, used, and protected. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle user data when you play Mazeball VR on Meta platforms, including Oculus Quest.

By using Mazeball VR, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the game.

2. Information We Collect

Mazeball VR collects both non-personally identifiable gameplay data and certain user-identifiable data provided by Meta’s platform. This data is stored and processed by our third-party service provider, Unity Technologies, to enable game features like leaderboards and analytics.

2.1 User-Identifiable Data (via Meta Horizon Platform)

When you play Mazeball VR on Meta devices, we receive limited user data provided by Meta, including:

  • User ID – A unique identifier from Meta used to distinguish users

  • User Profile Information, including:

    • Display Name – May be used on in-game leaderboards

    • Age Group – Used to ensure age-appropriate content access

This data is accessed by us via Meta APIs and stored within Unity’s cloud services, including Unity Analytics and Unity Leaderboards. We do not store or access this data directly on our own servers.

We do not use this data for marketing, profiling, or advertising purposes.

2.2 Gameplay Metrics (Anonymized)

We use Unity Analytics to collect anonymized gameplay metrics, including:

  • Gameplay session duration

  • Level completion times

  • In-game success/failure rates

  • Other gameplay performance metrics

These insights help us improve gameplay balancing, level design, and overall user experience.

2.3 Leaderboard Scores

If you submit a score to the leaderboard, we collect:

  • Score and time achieved

  • Unity-generated anonymized player ID

  • Meta User ID (for unique leaderboard tracking)

  • Display Name (if permitted by Meta and used in your profile)

This data is stored in Unity Leaderboards and is used only to show rankings within the game.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data collected to:

  • Display leaderboard scores and rankings

  • Analyze gameplay trends using Unity Analytics

  • Improve game balance, difficulty, and performance

  • Ensure platform compliance (e.g., age-appropriate content delivery)

We do not use your data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or third-party marketing.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

Mazeball VR does not share any user data directly with third parties.

However, we rely on third-party services provided by Unity Technologies for:

  • Game analytics

  • Leaderboard functionality

  • Storage and processing of user-related data

These services may store Meta User ID and profile information as needed to provide their features.

5. Data Security

We and our service provider (Unity) implement commercially reasonable safeguards to protect user data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access or misuse.

6. Data Retention

Unity may retain gameplay and leaderboard data for as long as necessary to provide their services or comply with legal requirements.

We do not retain or store any personal data directly.

7. Data Deletion Requests

If you want your data (e.g., leaderboard score or gameplay metrics) deleted, please contact us at:

Include any relevant details (e.g., Oculus username, gameplay session ID) so we can identify your data and forward your request to Unity Technologies for processing.

8. Meta Horizon Platform Compliance

In compliance with Meta’s VRC.Quest.Privacy.2 and Data Use Checkup (DUC):

  • Mazeball VR accesses and uses user data (e.g., User ID, Display Name, Age Group) via Meta Platform APIs.

  • This data is used solely to enable platform-required features (leaderboards, content gating).

  • Data is stored and processed by Unity Technologies, our authorized data processor.

  • We do not sell, share, or monetize this data in any way.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect legal, technical, or platform changes. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.

10. Meta Horizon Platform Data Use

Mazeball VR integrates with Meta Horizon platform features that involve the collection and processing of:

  • User ID – Used for leaderboard and analytics tracking

  • User Profile Info – Including display name and age group (used only for gameplay features)

These data points are:

  • Accessed via Meta APIs

  • Stored and processed by Unity Technologies (not by us directly)

  • Not used for marketing or advertising

  • Not sold or transferred to third parties beyond Unity’s processing

Unity Technologies serves as our data processor and may use anonymized or hashed identifiers for gameplay tracking and ranking purposes.

11. Data Requests from Public Authorities

Mazeball VR does not collect or store personally identifiable information directly. We have not received any requests from public authorities for user data in the past 12 months.

Should we ever receive a lawful request (e.g., court order), we will comply only as legally required and will disclose the minimum information necessary.
